Simon Glass' Personal Work

Mr Simon Glass BDes.

a.k.a. Drew Feynman

Residing in a secluded bayside home (Auckland), Simon Glass and his wife Brigitte appreciate raising two girls Scarlett and Kezia along with two rabbits – Ginger and Twinkle.

With a passion for design inherent, Simon finds himself attempting to make even the most mundane visuals more interesting; going one step further for anything graphics related (to the point where labelling kitchen products becomes a typographic journey).

With the unavoidable effects of the thing that 'like a miracle, will disappear', Simon had no option but to venture outside his comfort zone in order to provide for his family. At one stage he earnt his UAV License and took to the skies, another time, he picked up the camera as a freelance photographer. But design was always a strong part of everything he has done – by means of illustration, building websites and creating promotional materials.

Simon has always loved the process of image making, but it was the hours spent sharing the delights of picture books with his children; that was the catalyst for illustrating several children's books (both fiction and non-fiction).

In 2017 using the pseudonym Drew Feynman, Simon
illustrated
'Awesome Minds, The Creators of iPhone' a DuoPress publication. In 2018 he self-published the first of the 'Friends of the Forest' series 'Whispering Winds'.

Simon studied for four years to earn a BA in Visual Communication (notably under tutelage of the esteemed Henrik Drescher) and has worked in a number of creative roles including in-house designer and illustrator for the award-winning Television New Zealand website as well as agency work in New Zealand, The U.K. and The U.S.

Although Simon has always enjoyed the simplicity of pencil on paper, he is currently exploring the nuances of digital illustration with Apple iPad.

"There are three responses to a piece of design – yes, no, and WOW!

Wow is the one to aim for.”
